Disk Management in Windows Vista is under
Control Panel, System and Maintenance, Administrative Tools, Computer
Management, Storage. A breeze to navigate if you were to ask me. The
system utility will help you manage partitions and hard disks. Disk
initialization, creating volumes, and formatting with the FAT, FAT32, or
NTFS file systems are all tasks offered by Disk Management.
Follow these steps to resize an existing
partition on a computer's hard disk drive when using Windows Vista:
1. Click the Windows Vista Start button.
2. Right-click Computer.
3. Click Manage. The Computer Management window will open.
4. Click Storage in the pane at left, then double-click Disk Management
in the pane at right.
5. Right-click one of the rectangular partition areas in the lower part
of the window. (The heading at the left of the existing partitions will
probably be "Disk 0" or "Disk 1".) A menu of options will pop up.
6. Click Extend or Shrink to change the size of the partition.
The options available will vary depending upon the current size and
status of the partition. Options that are not available will appear
'grayed-out' in the options menu.
